What Humans Breeding With Snails Has To Do With Fat Loss

The Battle Of Hu-Snail2:12 am | Posted by

Do you ever get those days when you are rushing to get somewhere?

Perhaps you optimistically only popped 15 minutes worth in the car park, perhaps you took that ‘last call’ that left you sat in the car park discussing your last forwarded mail on 2011 revenue streams or perhaps you just had to spend 15 minutes acting as chief negotiator breaking up a war that broke out between the kids in the back seat over the last Percy Pig.

Whatever your reason, we all have those days where we need to get somewhere and we need to get there fast!

Isn’t it all too typical though that on these days, which for most of us don’t come around too often, the streets become filled with mutants. Yes Mutants. Those whose mothers/fathers that had relations with snails. I call these people ‘hu-snails’ or ‘sna-mans’.

You know the type, the people who walk at least four times as slow as everybody else, often stopping dead in the street to check out a window, or weaving the pavement whilst on their mobile phones. Not only do they roam the land however, you find them at self-service checkouts in supermarkets (‘please place the item in the bagging area’), paying for the lottery in pennies at your local corner shop or reeling off their list of problems to the receptionist at the doctors surgery with a queue behind them 8 strong.

I know I am not the only one who has experienced this…

The Point

This is not just a rant about Hu-Snails/Sna-mans, there is a point to this.

I got stuck behind a variety of such creatures this weekend and it got me thinking about fat loss and my client’s journeys towards the figure of their dreams.

You see, we live in a society where we want everything and we want everything now. Lengthy periods of dedication, nutritional discipline and self-reserve are hard traits to find in the average British person. But amongst the hay stack is always a needle or two – I am lucky to have found quite a number of needles and have the opportunity to work with them on a daily basis.

One thing I notice about people on a fat loss mission is that they are in a rush. Just like the individual we spoke about above. They haven’t been mediating Percy Pig battles though, they are simply late because their lifestyle has got in their way, their job has prevented them from training or they just don’t like exercise.

They have an appointment with their slim body and they are now racing to get to their end goal.

Like with anytime we are in a rush though, the Hu-Snails/Sna-mans are out, and they are out in force!

Some people like to call these ‘hurdles’ which the individual has to overcome, and if you ask the right person they will always tell you that ‘hurdles are in place to help us learn and gain experience’. I am a bit simpler than that and believe that hurdles are put in place to get in the way and be a general nuisance. Whichever philosophy you choose it is important that much like an Olympic athlete we hurdle those bad boys at break neck speed. Ever played leapfrog?

Hu-Snails/Sna-Mans can come in various forms when it comes to fat loss:

  • Your boss making you work late
  • Your friends ‘forcing you’ out drinking
  • Your favourite fast food establishment calling your name
  • Your kids keeping you up late
  • A never ending list of chores that prevent you from training
  • An inability to ‘buy into’ the program that you are following
  • A ‘woe is me’ attitude focused on restriction
  • The queue at your local commercial gym to jump on the treadmill
  • The wrong sort of training for your goal (Very Common)

There are lots more. All of these slow your journey.

Think how you feel when you get stuck behind a Hu-Snail/Sna-man in the street. Pretty annoyed, right? This is amplified when one gets in your way of achieving exactly what you want.

Is There A Solution?

Yes! Number one you need to eradicate some snails with your ray gun. Get rid of them. Manage your time better so you leave work on time, say no to your friends, take the upper hand in the parent-child relationship and set the rules. Do whatever you need to do to remove your obstacles.

Personal training is just one way to set yourself on the right track. You have a booked appointment which means that 9 times out of 10 you will be there on time ready to hit it. It’s in your diary. You get the motivation, the fast track plan and the ultimate Hu-Snail ray gun. (Ray Gun may not be included, terms and conditions apply)

One thing unique to Xcelerate Fitness though is semi-private training. Semi-Private training is a great way of building relationships with those who are working towards similar goals and are experiencing the same issues as you are. One important factor in the achievement of goals is social support. What better social support than another like-minded individual who is kicking Hu-Snail butt?

Mid to late January is a time when the Hu-Snail/Sna-Mans are out in force and people are already getting held up. The sad thing, is that most people give up at this stage and this is a tradjedy, because all these people need is guidance, motivation and help to traverse the mutant battlefield.

This is where we can help! I came to battle against the hu-snail/sna-man race and I fought but most importantly conquered. Now I am offering my experience and guidance to help you succeed.
